Facilities at East Grinstead

Our East Grinstead practice offers calm, unhurried care for dogs, cats and small furries, with facilities designed around the needs of each.

A calm welcome

Your pet’s visit can start before you even reach the door. Outside we have a bench and a dog stop, so dogs who need a bit of space can wait comfortably away from the busier reception, one of the reasons we are dog friendly accredited. Inside, there is a quiet room you are welcome to use if you or your pet needs extra privacy or calm, which we know matters most when a visit is a difficult one. Cats have their own separate waiting area too, with raised shelves for carriers, blankets to cover baskets and calming spray on hand, all part of our commitment to our Cat Friendly Gold accreditation.

We have three consult rooms, each bright, spacious and set up to feel calm rather than clinical. There is seating for you as well as your pet, room to talk things through without feeling rushed, and space for the whole family to be part of an appointment, when they want to be.

Diagnosis and treatment, all in one place

For a clear picture of what is going on inside, we have digital x-ray and ultrasound onsite, along with a vet who has a particular interest in diagnostic imaging. This means we can often investigate quickly and safely, without your pet needing to travel elsewhere. Many routine blood and urine tests can be run in our advanced in-house laboratory too, so results often come back sooner than sending them to an external laboratory.

Our dedicated dental suite covers everything from a routine scale and polish to advanced dentistry and oral surgery, with digital dental x-ray to check below the gum line. In our onsite theatre we carry out most routine and planned operations, including laparoscopic spays (keyhole) as standard for female dogs, a gentler approach with a quicker recovery. We are also one of a small number of practices in the region accredited to carry out the Kennel Club Respiratory Function Grading Scheme assessments for flat-faced breeds. Where surgery is needed to help these breeds breathe more easily (BOAS), this is carried out at our Crawley practice.

Some of these services, including laparoscopic spays and advanced dentistry, are also offered on a referral basis to non-clients.

Space to recover

Pets recover better when they feel settled, so we keep separate wards for cats and dogs. Cats rest away from the sights and sounds of our canine patients, in kennels raised off the ground with a sunny outlook and cat towers for those who like to perch or hide. Our dog wards have kennels in a range of sizes, including walk-in space for larger patients, and even shower facilities to freshen up after any accidents.

Every ward has mechanical ventilation and climate control to keep all patients comfortable. Calming pheromones, relaxing background sounds and comfortable bedding (including orthopaedic mattresses for patients who need extra support) are all standard features of our wards. We have an isolation ward for infectious cases or where a patient just needs that extra quiet environment. If your pet is staying with us for the day, you are welcome to bring a favourite blanket or toy from home to help them feel at ease.

When it is time to go home, we hold discharge appointments in one of our consultation rooms rather than at a busy front desk. That gives you a calm, private space to go through aftercare and ask any questions, which is especially reassuring for patients recovering from a procedure.
