Portland Vets is one of the only veterinary practices in the area with a dedicated ‘hotel’ for hibernating tortoises. Many owners of pet tortoises find that they do not have an adequate space in their home where they can provide the correct temperature or conditions for a quality hibernation period. Not having these can be detrimental to their tortoise’s health. This is why we set up our ‘Tortoise Hibernation hotel. We recommend a pre-hibernation checkup so please contact our nursing team to arrange this.
The Tortoise Trust is a great resource for further information on tortoise care. Visit their website at tortoisetrust.org for helpful guides and information sheets.
